Section Suggestion : Legal / Rules and Regulations

I would like to see a Legal Database.
Each broken down to state: NSW, QLD, WA, Etc, etc.

Stickies to state that the details are kept as Up To Date as possible. And that OZ Honda Makes no warranty that the details provided are the latest or correct. (Let's Face it, OZ Doesn't need Suing for false information, lol)

These areas would contain, at the least:

    1. Road & Traffic Laws
    2. Licensing Regulations
    3. Vehicle Modication Regulations

An excellent reference for people new, and experienced in motoring.
A Moderator for each state, from said state would be acceptable.

Law students may like this as a good tool to hone Researching and referencing skills for legal matters.

A separate forum or stickies would be HUGE and an eye sore for anyone glancing through. It wont prevent people making threads in hte lounge about getting defected or caught speeding. I think stating the RTA or similar link in a small sticky , or once in awhile is enough for now.

What does everyone else think ?

The For Sale and Noob forums are evidence enough that people DON'T read stickies.
Having all these stickies outlining all these rules/regulations will just be a wasted effort on the creators account imo.

i was actually thinking about asking for a sticky about this too.
why not just have a sticky in the lounge and have users post anything they find on the internet.
i found this which is helpful for ppl who get defected and need EPA to clear it:
    http://www.epa.nsw.gov.au/esdsmoky/rights.asp

We already have the Knowledge Base which is in essence, all stickies. -- I was going to suggest this approach earlier, but thought Mods may want to move those types of questions to a legal section.

I would support it going into the Knowledge Base, as it's own section. It could be a reference point for all, if newbies ask questions, a link straight to the answer can easily be referenced for them there.

In my thinking, I would believe posts about legalities in regards to specific modifications can be addressed, such as ride height (often, people believe that 100mm is fine, but they do not know that Headlights must be at least 600mm from the ground), HID lights (often unknown as a defect, if not retrofitted with proper items), or rim size (often asked and answered -- Perhaps a list of all Honda Makes with their Stock Placard would be helpful).

As many know, calling the RTA with the same question can often give you difference and conflicting answers. - The new section would ultimatly be the place to go for clarifiaction on legal issues.

    RE: Stickies in the Lounge
As you can see, every time a post in regards to legislative changes are made, there are at least two pages of banter, opinions, and information that follows. I think this is great in allowing people to see what other members see as acceptable, and unacceptable behaviour.

But pushing each post into a sticky will be messy, and inefficient in the goal I'd like to see achieved by a new section, either for itself, or in the K.B. However, I would find it more appropriate located in the Knowledge Base as it's own catergory.

I agree that it'll be useful, but i feel this will all be done in vain as no one reads stickies bar the a few that know how to search properly.
Guaranteed we'll still get a million questions about defects, mod legalities etc.

No doubt the questions will continue. But it wasn't to curb the questions, it was to provide a place where the questions are answered with answers from offical souces and not the "Oh, I think it's two inches bigger than stock" answers you get from word-of-mouth.

It'd be like the Laymans' VIS documents. It will allow the greater public to know more about what they are, and aren't allowed to do, without being difficult for them to understand.

why dont you just make a thread with links to the websites to each states transport authority, then if someone wants to know something they can go look for it themselves instead of wanting ozhonda to do their job for them.

    LOL!
Talking about dumping the work on me!

Haha, because some members may not be as internet-savvy as us geeks. or closet-geeks. .. XD

I'd like the database to address specific questions.

    Hm...

Maybe a FAQ Stcky could be suitable for this application. And this can be added to as questions arise and are answered. The FAQ Sticky could provide answers in regard to each state, but the FAQ would not be as broad as I would have liked it to have been.

in the time you took to type that response , you could of searched google ,
    and found this link below

    RTA modification guideline
(relevant to NSW , dunno elsewhere)

Problem is mate , most rules are pretty vauge and depend on situation and discretion of police officer enforcing it. So , really we cant 100% type down rules.
I think its safer for everyone to leave the "book" open , and leave the responisiblity of EACH driver here , with the option of looking up the rules themselves for their own situation. Owning a car isnt a right its a privilage
