Putting Sub in New Civic Type R

Hey guys last week got my new civic type R and everything is great with car and really impressed although only one thing it is kind of lacking, or maybe I'm just used to having it, is bass. Thinking of putting a 12inch sub and amp into my new civic which I took out of my old car, what are your thoughts on this? Has anyone put a sub in and have they had any problems like steering wheels controls being disabled or anything like that?

The only reason I am asking is a few years ago my brother bought a new citroen C4 and in some other forums people posted that when they put a sub in and it disabled the steering wheel controls and both cars are quite similar in electronics so I thought it would be wise to ask for a bit of advise.

    Cheers.

Hey thanks alot will decide sometime this week. Another thought, at the moment I've got a brand new Sony 12" Xplode Sub and a Kenwood 250W amp (model KAC 5202) which is not so new, would you think it would be wise to purchase a new amp seeing as I'm putting it into a brand new car or there is no need really?

I'm sure you can get a lot of help from the 'Audio/Visual' section.

Well if you really like the Sony then put it in, but since you've got a brand new Type R i'd probably recommend maybe a system upgrade as well. Brands like Eclipse, Alpine, Focal are all really good brands which you can really hear the difference. But when it comes to audio, it all depends on the individual. If you like the Sony sub then by all means go for it!

Ok sounds good..well I was actually planning on selling my current sub and amp as the box is quite old and so is the amp..the sub is good but seeing as I don't want a 12"..was planning on buying a 10". So I will look into buying a new probably Alpine sub and amp in the next month or so. Would you recommend any models?

Yeah either the Eclipse titanium series or Alpine Type R 10inch would be good, but bear in mind you might need a more powerful amp to run these ...
