    You can hydrolock your engine. Basically the Cai is sitting behind your front bumper facing down'ish. If you've got a lowered car your risk is greater. Basically, if you drive through high'ish water or big deep puddles and the filter is 60%+ submerged your air intake will suck in lotsa water (pending on the revs). In short... water doesn't compress like air does.. so things break.


    Having said that... if I do end up changing my intake it will be a Injen CAI. Hey JaCe looking forward to seeing the SRI installed. Take lotsa happy snaps.

    I actually did look at the Injen one but didn't end up going ahead with it because wasn't 100% confident it would work with my car... that, and I also was a bit scared of the CAI risk (even if you get the device to stop the water getting in).

    Considering the relatively low price of the Typhoon compared to the Injen CAI, I figured that was the way to go. They also had Simotas on sale but from what I had heard from various ppl both on the forums and in real life, the Taiwanese/Asian intakes are more noise than anything else.

    Yes it does. Refer to Typhoon installation instructions for MAF sensor location.

    Surely this isn't right or else they wouldn't be selling CAIs?? So the water screws the engine and electronics? Sounds ridiculous.

    You can get hydro 'socks' that help minimize the chances of it. Also you can get bypass valves to do the same. These CAIs are aftermarket parts and of course if u need warranty Honda will try and blame it on the CAI (if its related).

    But seriously, how often do you drive thru 15-30 cm of water? If in doubt either don't risk it or don't rev through it as it creates more suction. Doesn't screw the electronics.... just the engine. The engine can still function with some water in it. But get too much water and the pressure becomes too much as it tries to compress the air. Short ram intakes are safer... but don't really offer the slight power increase that CAIs do.

    yea man i looked into it.. just take the part number 2 them and they will do it.. although i kno alot the autobarn ppl so maybe it was just special treatment

    omg... i'm really happy with the typhoon intake on the fd1. it's very good =] I will post a proper mini review later but so far, it feels fantastic. suddenly the engine became 10x more responsive. it's really noticeable when overtaking and going up hills- suddenly i don't fall behind so much on a hill? *shrugs*

    below 2000rpm, it feels nearly stock.. throttle is more sensitive but not actually going any faster. once u pass the 2500rpm mark though, it makes a huge difference. a very low rumbling sound and acceleration is fantastic compared to before. it's accentuating the engine's natural characteristics.

    shall post pics of the install later.

    it comes with a box already, it practically seals it self with the bonnet.
