    CXI shift speeds

    hey all

i got a honda cxi 2000 ek civic and it doesnt hav a speed tachometer. at what speeds should i shift the gears to get maximum power without redlining the car?

    i heard that it can shift 1st at 50kph, and 2nd at 85kph, 3rd at 130kph...

    are these safe speeds?

    i'd say they're redline speeds
generally rule i follow is every 20k's go up a gear for day to day driving
    1st - 0-20
    2nd - 20-40
    3rd - 40-60 and so on

on cruising speed however i.e. highways between 70-90k's i generally keep it in 5th

Don't rely on the speeds to change gear. Rely on your ears.

but i was referring to the optimum speeds for drag (on a track of course )

If you are on a track doing drags, go and buy an aftermarket tachometer.

oh in that case i'll wait for someone with a cxi
if you're going to the track i'd invest in a tacho, the least you can do for your poor car just don't get one of those 10" ****off ones hehe

Rambo2, if you have the car's owners manual, they do list maximum speeds at which you should shift, and also regular speeds for shifting during normal driving.

    wow im interested too.
i got a small sports exhaust and yet wen i rev, 50kmh in first sounds like its gonna break lol.
    75kmh in 2nd car sounds ok - RAWR...hope i dont break it.
and 110kmh in 3rd sounds ok.
i got my own dodgy ebay installed tacho...reads 3000 rpm at 75kmh in 2nd gear!!! .. HOw can you know the rev meter signal is accurate? i feel its reving a lot higher than 3000 rpm...maybe not??
    Mehhh!!!!!
