    Can B18C2 use RON91 fuel?

    hi everyone

noob q's for the noob forum.

    Context:
in australia we have the B18C2 which we all run RON98 with.
yet in USA they have the B18C1 (equivilent motor to b18c2).

In USA, the minimum Premium Unleaded RON is 91 (Regular Unleaded = 87 or so). And B18C1 owners DO pour 91octane in their B18C1.

    The Question:
    - Can we B18C2 owners also use RON91?
    - We just wont feel the performance of RON98 right?
    - Any risk of detonation n blowing the motor (stock motor)?

    Cheers boys and girls

i believe aus spec engines are tuned to run on minimum 95

anything less then ur engine will not be working correctly = damage

other countries with lower octane ratings will account for this and have a different tune

this is basically why japan has more powerful engines than the ones they ship around the world. they have better fuel.

well thats as far as i know.

95+ is recommended as 91 will damage the motor

Theres a purpose when Honda recommends us to use 95 or better fuel..

Follow their advise and receive a piece of mind..Only a few cents diff man.. lol.. y buy a honda integra vti-r when u dun even wanna keep it in peak condition.. Just get GSI integra or other older model.. lol..

Seriously... 95 is the way to go.. Dun use 91.. quite risky..

just a slight correction.. they don't measure in RON.. theirs is MON... their 93oct is equivalent to our 98oct

i dont see how the using normal unleaded will "damage" the engine?if you drive it normally(not snapping through the redline etc) it should be fine. ive had a few friends with jdm/ausdm b16/18's and they use 91oct fuel.. drives pretty much the same as mine on 98oct, only it chews up alot more fuel when you give it to it.

Why would you use 91 RON fuel, in an engine which is tuned to run 95+ RON.

Using 91, will only cause the engine to knock, even if you are driving at grandma pace.
