Unfortunately, the cop is contradicting the new rules. And it is very bad luck for new P platers in VIC. I strongly recommend that you all print out the page that I linked above and keep it in your car, as you will come across cops who think like the cop that you spoke to.

for christs sake, yes any car with 8 or more cylinders is illegal.... have you even read the rules?

and the boys in blue can only enforce the laws, not create them, so yes vic roads is what you should be worried about...
no its not (to old p platers)

see what you says go against the new rules that have been posted up earlier. im not saying your lying im just pointing out how confusing this system is.

for example that VS exec 5L is illegal under the new laws, yet was legal according to the old power to weight system. i mean wtf
    it is a little confusing....

but the power to weight ratio which was the old law, and the new law about no v8's or turbos are COMBINED!!!

which means you CANNOT drive a type S or a S2000 cos yes they are 4 cylinders but they exceed the power to weight ratio..

the new law was brought out to be TOUGHER not CONTRADICT the old one!

    but see your wrong too...

"The previous power to weight restriction will continue to apply to any probationary driver who obtained their licence before 1 July 2007.

However, if a probationary driver with a pre-July 2007 licence has a car that does not meet the power to weight restrictions, but it does comply with the new high powered vehicle restrictions effective from July 2007, then the probationary driver may drive the car." (as posted earlier)

that says that power to weight only applies to pre July 2007 P platers.

ADDITIONALLY if your car breaks that power to weight barrier but does not violate new "high-powered car laws" (list of hi-po 6s, anything more than 8 cylinders, and no forced induction) than you CAN DRIVE THAT CAR

that means that YES you can drive an s2000 or a type S/R as it is a 4cyl NA

furthermore the laws were not changed to be tougher but to SIMPLER, it was too hard to enforce a power to weight law so just blanket banning certain cars is much easier to enforce

the point is the laws are contradictory and ridiculous

That's correct. Furthermore i wouldn't worry too much, I've seen cops drive past p-plate turbo R34's, s15's, without any issues. Chances are if they do pull you over, they will be busy defecting you on the mods you have. And half of the cops don't even know what an integra is!

thats a very good point and your right,

Hondas arent high risk cars like WRX's and skylines that most people hoon around in, many cops wouldnt look twice

cops look for and pick out
    ridiculously low
    loud
stockies on the back (rwd cars)
    big shiny rims

as for cars i think they tend to stay away from hondas opposed to commodores , skylines , silvia's an so on
