    Unhappy Ek Immobilser Help!

    Hey guys,

I've got a 99 EK and was wondering what the factory remote immoliser remote is paired to? I know on the same era commodores etc they are paired to a Body Control Module, Do Honda's use the same kind of setup? If so where is it located?

under the steering column thats the actual immobiliser unit itself.

could be same thing for ur remote/keyless entry

umm i dont thing that factory key thing is a immobiliser its just used to unlock ur doors. i dont think it arms anything? ie the immobiliser.

Ah ok, so its just basically like a remote central locking? So theoretically the car should start without even having a remote?

    yep and yep.

the immobilser has to do with the chip inside the key so dont lose all of your keys. make sure u have spares

funny you should say that because thats the exact problem I have: Bought a repossessed car with no keys, have now changed the ignition barrel, locking module / remote and it's still not starting on me.... grrr!

You mentioned the chip inside the key - what is that paired to?

the key is paired to the immobiliser under the steering coloumn.

if the immobiliser unit needs to be replaced it would cost u more.

if u located in syd call perfect lock smiths 0419 436 389.

if it needs to be replaced your probbably looking around the $400 mark with keys programmed and cut.

if he can just copy the code from ur original immobiliser then u will just have to pay for the keys.. which are about $70 each from him.

umm well call him and he will come out to you and you will found out whats needed

i wouldnt reccommened to go to a honda dealer.. unless you wanna get dung punched with the price they would charge

yeah, had to get the same thing for me, we needed a new key, and didnt have the origonal red one, so before i bought the car, the guy i brought it off got a new immobilizer/key setup, cost him $400 for it, plus another $120 from me to get it fitted. if you can find a way around it, do it.
