$80k for a BMW that can out perform cars worth twice as much or more??? That still has ample luxury features and creature comforts. I'd say thats pretty good value. If you've driven one you'll realise its simply not just another 1 series. Just like the M3 isnt just another 3 series.

Each to their own i guess, if you dont like it, you dont like it.

Just a quick question, whats a brand new s2000 go for these days??? Oh yeah $80K
Now theres an over priced car.

Thats because Honda's retarded and should of canned it years ago when sales dropped off - much the same as the NSX.

In the way of brand new cars, the S2000 has to be one of the biggest rip offs on the market. It was overpriced even when it was released imo.

But..... its still a 1 series. The overpriced option. Sounds like the S2000 10yrs ago if you ask me. I bet you their sales go the same way too....

However, none are readily available on the market for S2000's.

Most are centrifugal blowers..... more revs -> more boost.
Thats whys they developed the Twin Screw type. Max boost pressure @ 2500-2800rpm. Also can be intercooled. Much more reliable and hassle free than turbo if your looking to add another 100-150bhp.

There is a prototype Eaton MP62 out by Static X Motorpsort in the USA for the S2000 market, but production numbers at this point in time are probably under a 1/2 dozen.

    You are, and I will.

I understand that positive displacement SCs result in low down torque but none of the available kits for the S are PD including the Vortech which you mentioned from CAPA.

To use this as an example, the Vortech delivers boost proportionate to RPM and really doesn't have much effect until about 5500 and even then it is minimal and peaks at 9000. A nicely matched turbo will be at full boost before 4000.

Yup, but as you say, it is in the prototype stage. There have been about 6 different PD blowers for the S that have not got past the prototype stage.

Atleast this one seems a little more likely to bear fruit than the others. I'm reading good results from the SOT thread the last time I checked it.

    Just my 2c...
Did any1 watch top gear when they reviewed the 1series coupe to the m3? The 1 series coupe out performs the m3. The 1series coupes come out with a 3ltr straight six 400nm kicking in at 1300rpm. I love my honda's but... if I had the choice of the m3 or the 1 series coupe I know which I’d go it would be the 1 series coupe not only that the 1 series comer out with a proper manual box non of the paddle shift BS!

Mate you can also buy an mx5 and buy the kit to make it look like a z3.
