have a look underneath the crx u might actually see the drive shaft popped out and slumped. I know of this as its happened to me.
sounds like a blown drive shaft, or a clutch failure or even the diff but the only way 2 find out is to pull it appart

The VSS is reading off the diff. As said before by myself and others , check the driveshafts if they are in properly or blown cv etc

My quote was in reply to the guy before me, not the OP.
Just to add - a failing clutch still would engage (to a degree) thru to the diff and beyond. A failed clutch probably wouldnt get power past the flywheel
If it was only failing and not failed, then the car would move.
