I believe the issue of insurance will come back to the issue of legality which has been debated before.

Fibreglass bonnets are illegal, and as such TypeG's would appear to be in that category because it is fibreglass with CF overlay.

At the moment there doesn't appear to be any legeslation about 100% CF bonnets so technically these could possibly be legal at this stage, but then that has never stopped police trying to defect you. Also remember that bonnets can be an integral part in the way the front end collapses in a front-on accident and they are designed in a specific way. Most aftermarket bonnets will not be ADR approved. Think about how much damage a CF bonnet would do when it is twice as strong as steel, and then if/when it breaks in an accident it is going to snap in half and splinter....imagine copping that through your windscreen....

i think the point is not if cops catch you or not.
it's more of "will insurance pay out if yr bonnet is fibreglass and you're involved in some big crash and your life is hanging on a limb.."

Yeah road laws are always tricky as they vary so much from state to state.I saw a cf bonnet at the honda parts distributors in Caloundra and it weighs 4 kg.Cost was $600
I saw the photos etc of all the kits but im also not sure that the CF suits all the colours. If i had a black one id probably get it painted.
