    cam gears

Ok i did a search but i cant find anything useful about cam gears.. my question is what does cam gears do? and whats the best range to set for H22A engine? What do gain from it or lose?

cam gears attach to the camshaft and the timing belt attaches over them to make the cams turn.

cam gears make you engine run, without them it would jsut be a spinning crank and pistons...

    shit, sorry man!

they are worth it - but you gotta factor in paying some dude to tune them.

i had Jim at Croydon Racing tune my cam gears on my B20VTEC and it gained 11kw and had good midrange power...

he told me that every engine is slightly different, so what worked on mine wont really work on someone elses...

    charged $350 for the tune.

do NOT try to set cam gears your self!

BTW - if your engine ius stock - you coudl still gain, but it it has intake and exhaust gains will be higher

If you do purchase a set of adjustable cam gears make sure they are AEM, Skunk 2, HKS, not a set of no name brand gears off Ebay!

Its hard to say what gains you would achieve, as tink said what he gained on his car, you might not gain on yours.

For the money I doubt I would be worrying unless you were chasing every last KW and you had money to burn........

Locally you would pay around $400, imported around $2-300

Also dont buy reground Cams unless there are made from brand news cams that haven't been profiled as yet.

Regrinds are very dodgy in terms of quality!

i wouldn't get them unless ur getting cams.
The time spent on the dyno dialling them in is just not worth it.
