    Buying oil

Hello everyone i am a very proud s2000 now

The question i have, is that i remember reading a tread about what oil to put in your car, such oils as Shell, Castrol, Mobil 1, Royal Purple ect mentioned. The thing is that i have no idea where to find them i was looking for a 10-30 synthetic oil no luck (i went to super cheap auto and autobahn). So any information on what to buy where would be great!

    Thanks Michael

Oh and i hope there isnt a thread like this allready as search didnt really help

I use OEM Honda, change every 5000km.

Always run OEM in all my Hondas, even the old aircooled ones and they get HOT. No problems at all.

Yeah I buy 2x5 litre engine, 2xtrans and 1xdiff with filters and washers and get a good deal too. I keep one 5 litre spare all the time for top ups.

Honda FEO is a cheap mineral oil. So don't pay too much for it.

FEO - Thats the one. All my engines run mineral oil. Cheap and changed every 5000km is perfect. We run mineral oils in trucks, cheaper than synthetic and ensures you change it often. Some synthetics last 80,000km before the first oil changes in trucks, but you need to oil sample every 20,000km and the oil is very dear.

Best just to change the oil alot - beats changing a motor. I think personally synthetic for a daily driver so you can be lazy and stretch out the changes to 10-15k otherwise mineral OEM is perfect.

You don't have to run FEO. FEO is a good oil but there are other oils out there that are better. Especially if your car will see the track here and there. Any good synthetic is any easy win and is better than FEO. IMO you can't go wrong with Elf, Motul, Mobil 1. 10w-30 should be fine, if your car has seen a few km's eg 100,000+ then run a 10W-40 as it's slightly thicker. Most these oil's are available at either repco, autobahn etc.

I agree,IMO the only thing mineral oil is good for is running in engines, go a synthetic oil
