At any stage in that sentence did you stop and ask yourself - "do I know more than the engineer?". I'm not disagreeing with you but it's not like you stated any hard evidence.

OK, so for a normal road-going DC2R, the Honda MTX is fine right? do they still sell it at dealerships? I hate having to go to the spares place at Rydalmere for Trivett. and how much is it normally?

I've only seen MTF. Never seen MTX at the dealer since I got my car in 2004.

I was using motul 300v chrono. Found it burnt a bit of oil. Been using royal purple 10w-40 and finds it doesn't burn at all. Car runs fine on it. Although coming up to winter I might change it royal purple 10w-30 and see how it goes.

i really liked the Motul, i think the 300v was the 5w30 stuff, the top end was a bit noisey on it, but i didn't mind... it was better than Mobil 1 IMO, but i find it hard to come by so i stuck too and stocked up on Mobil 1 gold

I change my oil every 5,000km. With the 300v chrono I would have to top the oil up over the 5,000km. With the royal purple I haven't needed to top it up.

It's not that I didn't like the 300v, I'm happy with the royal purple because 5L is $85 where as 4L of the 300v is $100.

OEM for me, and until i have a straight cut, multiplate LSD equipped, sequential box i'll only use OEM in it.

Motul 300V is amazing on the engine, idles quiet as anything, feels more responsive n revvy but best of all very smooth... Downside is it feels as though its got a much shorter life than the others n looks n feels pretty damn worn out after only 3000ks or so. + at $100 a pop not the cheapest shit around if u gotta change it every 4000ks.

Gearbox wise, OEM ftw (although i wouldnt mind givin Motul a shot)... make sure 2 change it every 10-15xxx n she'll be alrite. My box felt fine around the track even after fairly long sessions didnt skip a beat.
    Getting there...
