Are you running factory splash guards?.. Then there is nothing to be worried about hydrolocking. Ive even ran my car without splash guards with my filter exposed in heavy rain. Nothing has happend..
the slpash guard for the DC5 doesnt cover the pod... hack a look under up fornt bumper OP.. you'll see where hte pod sits.

regardless, a spash of water on the pod isnt gonna hydrolock your car. its only when its submerged but if u ever get that deep then well... theres your problem.

dont worry about the hydroshield. as stated previously, just back right off the accelerator when going through deep puddles etc... Even with the hydroshield you can Hydrolock. Seen it happen before on an EK

I drove around without the hydroshield for 2 months.
Bought one for just peace of mind and there's no difference in sound or performance at all.
