hi there, the only law against gages is if they can possibly in any way interfere with you vision of the road. GTRs have gages on the dash and there not illegal because the don't interfere with vision of the road :-) hope that helps :-)

anytihng placed above the height of the dash is illegal, for the reason above,
however its really where you mount them, ontop of the dash, on the dash, and so on.

I don't believe there illegal on your dash on top of the headunit.
Always been under the assumption they fine.
On the bonnet is another matter, they can be fine and can be defected but i don't know the specifics.

If you going to get them man, get them on the A-Pillar like on the S15, they look so nice they but keep in mind anything past head height is a defect because if you have a head on accident... basically says enough.

Gauges on the A-Pillar is definately illegal and defectable.
Whether the check or not is another issue.

anything above the dash is illegal unless its from factory ie. jap spec S15 boost gauge on the a pillar

you can put them in a DIN location or anything lower than the dash

just mount it on the plastic behind the steering wheel, it's where our boost gauge is on our s13, fits good and is out of sight

you'd only need oil pressure anyhow...

otherwise, relocate your cd player and make a plate for three in the dash
