    Hybrid Engine/Engine Swap

    i always thought that a b18c block with a b16a head increased the compression ratio over the b18c standard.
    so as an engine swap would it be better to use a b18c7 standard or a b18c7 with a b16a2 head?

    i heard that the b18c5/7 uses a b16 head. so u wunt get a increased compression. howeva that is wat i heard.

    b18c5 is a type R engine.....its got the b16a equvilent head -_-

    b18c2 with b16a head will lose compression. u need to change pistons etc. a.k.a poor mans type R. -_-

    The thing to do is to put the b16a2 pr3 pistons in their to raise your compression to about 11.4, k series bearings are a nice trick if you do this as an extra. The b16a2 head is the closest to the b18c head.

    Both pr3 heads.

    if you can afford it go for the full thing less to muck around with. With the poor mans Type R (B16a head on b18 block) you might end up with more trouble and actually blow the head by accident and end up costing you more or either not making the power that you were expecting.
    I've just sourced a decent, and decently priced b18c7 looking at doing the conversion in the next month or so once i have all parts and stuff.

    You have to remember that the b16a and b18cR heads are very similar but the R head is alot more advanced. Agressive Cams, higher comp pistons, HAND port and polish (yes all Rs come with a hand PnP) etc.

    So your answer would be definatly to use a b18c7 untouched, unless you want to sell me the b18c7 head very cheaply :P

    The P72 head off a B18C2 is 1cc smaller in the combustion chamber than a PR3 B16A or B18C5-7 head so it will give you a small increase in compression on a B16A bottom end.And in STD form the P72 head flows more than a STD PR3 B16A head.

    pretty much sums everything up... it will give you an idea what numbers you should get.

    how Dynodave came to say that b18c2 is 1cc smaller in the combustion chamber is that the PR3 head has ~ 42.70cc compared to that of the P72 head having ~41.60cc you do the math
