    what works better? heat wrap or ceramic coating?

    i know that ceramic coating will cost a little more, but is heat wrap as effective?

    how far do you guys heatwrap down the exhaust system?

    Heat wrap works great, but it isn;t ideal for steal as it holds in more moisture and dirt which can rust the system faster, especially driving through a lot of rain.

    Having said that, prob not very noticable with a NA set up, more built for turbo. But anywhere you can reduce the under hood temperature would be a good thing i guess!

    Wrapping it any further down from where the header just starts to merge is overkill i think, so up to the oil pan! Any further down, water can collect from the road and sit in the wrapping under the header/exhaust causing possible premature rust

    I don't think moisture would affect the wrap much in the way of rusting. The exhaust is hot and with a bit of wind whist driving will dry out any moisture in just about an instant. Going to and including under the oil pan is good because you be getting less heat radiation in to the oil.

    and i wouldnt recommend heat wrapping anything stainless...

    I heat wrapped my HKS Type-II NA Super Headers [What a mouthful] for a long time, no issues at all...

    It was wrapped from the primaries all the way down to the CAT =)

    Apart from reduction in ambient temperature, wrapping or coating will retain heat inside the system so that the exhaust gas density kept to minimum therefore maximises the velocity at which the exhaust gas will move out.

    Win win in my opinion and potentially hides your aftermarket headers from an open bonnet invitation

    EDIT: Effectiveness, I did notice with my 4AG 20V, increase in torque and responsiveness =)

    wow you own a 20V 4AG isn't that a professional racing motor dread angel ?

    hmm its really upto personal preference if its a daily etc and not scared about moisture etc then heat wrap will be fine i doubt it would cause rusting quicker though

    Erm, Blacktop 20V 4AG hardly a professional racing motor... Its just like a B16A/B16A with torque and without the VTEC nonsense lol

    I got dc sport jdm headers and wrapped all the way done before the bend under the oil pan. Not enough room for wrap there and didnt think it was needed. I also heat wrapped the exhaust were it runs parallel to the shift rod. Got fed up of the hot gear knob!!!!!
