New Honda owner needs help :)

    Hi all,

I bought my first Honda a couple of months ago. I've had a few problems with it, mainly oil leaks and cooling issues, and have managed to sort most of them out but I'm now struggling to find the right part.

I own a 1995 Honda Civic EG Hatchback, 1.5 auto (D15B7 engine) and I'm looking for a radiator fan switch. I went to the nearest places first, such as Supercheap and Repco but when they showed me the picture of the item they had listed for my model it looked different to the one poking out of the back of my thermostat housing. I've widened my search to citywide auto spares places but as soon as I mention the make and model they say no. I've found what looks like my part on ebay but the seller is in the USA Lastly, Honda want $80 for one but I could probably employ a small person to live under my bonnet and manually operate the fan for less than that

I need some insider knowledge as to where the best (cheapest and quickest) place to get my hands on this item is. Please help me fellow Honda owners before my car does itself a serious injury

    Thanks.

    W

    Hi and welcome!

Non genuine parts aren't always identical to the OEM ones, so there's no harm in trying an item from SCA or Repco and then take it back if it doesn't work.

Otherwise just suck it up and pay $80 at Honda.

    Where are you located?

    Thanks Dougie,

My switch has a plastic connector that clips on to the wiring terminal where as the ones at supercheap and repco had screw on connections. I just thought it was too different to have a chance of fitting my connector. I'm located in North Bondi

If you cant afford $80 then your best bet would be to try the wreckers or go to pick n pay less at blacktown and youll get the "5 finger" discounts. Entry fee is $2 and the drive to the west would still cost ya less than $80...

    U can do the maths

I would just loop the switch so my fans runs constant until i get a switch from the wreckers.

well since the stock part lasted 8 years, i dont think $10 per year for operational fans in unreasonable so just buy one...
Mate my bbk cost more than your Honda.
