Well a vtec conversion is around 7-8g
a full rebuild of the current engine with forged internals is around 7-8g
and your average turn key i didn't do any work turbo set up is around 7-8g

These are rough estimates from my mechanic in brissie on the d16a crx.... i imagine they'd be about the same for a civic.

So I'd have to agree with above post, buy a vtir, and have fun

K20a or a b18c/b16a head turbo, but if i had that money i would do a b18c/b16a head turbo and working the engine to the max, have a very lil fast hatch mid to low 13's for sure but as ur mate wants to keep it N/A K20a for sure with Exhaust headers and CAI and ECU but you might find he needs a lil bit more money as the engine cost a fair bit(from wat i have heard) but do ur research alot place's over in the US have done this transfer and have had amazing results. The engine mounts are available for the ek as well, which cost around 600-900 $$$ depends on shop of course.

on this forum there is a eg hatch with a k20 in it and is pretty fast check it out in the timeslip database, but has quad bodys on it

    My 2cents

    Peace

yeah, agree with the others... if he were to do an eng. conversion (which would mean new springs, possibly brakes and other little things)... could have spent money on a better model like a vti-r or ITR and have the same outcome but without the hassles of extreme modifications... good luck man!!

no it wouldnt unless you did alot of the work youself. plus you gotta add the other factor.. suspension, body reinforcement and brakes etc etc..

if you want a fast car n/a buy the ITR.. better resell value, better complete package, way better platform.

if you wanna keep it to civic.. sell your gli get vtir and go for the hybrid conversion ( i like that cuz its alittle different) or turn it into a ekb16b or ekb18c etc etc..
thats if you plan to keep the car for yrs and yrs..

if you wanna keep the gli... turbo charging will get the gains . modifying the engine isnt worth it in my eyes in terms of n/a. ek4 must must better base..

other option. keep your car as is and invest your money into property or something for the future..
