EK/EJ questions to rattle your brains out

    gday lad

rescently bought a set of springs from a shop that had some clearance stock,
cross checked the model/code of the springs and it came back as EJ9 95 onwards-

now, from what i gather, EJ9 is a US variant of the EK hatches here in australia, so the suspension and chassis should be the same

picked up the springs and started to install them, front went in all good and dandy.
went to install the rears, i found something odd... spring was longer, diameter was a tad smaller and they sat oddly on the bottom perch of the shock.

so i pulled everything off and reverted back to stock.

so now i'm stuck with a set of springs that was initially for an EJ9 (EK for us australians) and they are different

springs are made by hotbits(german) and have a 40mm ride height drop

heres a few photos of the springs themselves.

side by side with kingspring low's for comparison

bottom of both springs, OEM and kingspring at the bottom tapers smaller to fit snuggly onto shock perch, and the hotbits coil is just the same size top to bottom

I might sound retarded here Kenny but perhaps they've got the front and rear springs mixed up?

Couldn't actually see a question in your first post.

I see they have 2 listings for EJ9 - 1990-1995 and 1995 onwards. I presume from your post above that you did in fact get the right ones?

How exactly do the springs not sit correctly in the perches? Are they too big for the bottom perch / too small for the upper seat or both?

Any chance of a refund from the seller, or at least get them to confirm fitment? If they've sold them to you on the premise that they fit Australian EK's, and they don't fit, then they have to refund your money, even if they were a clearance item. If they've made no warranty regarding the fitment of these springs to your car, selling them "as is", they may have an out. Still, the return policies of a lot of places aren't strictly lawful and can be challenged.

This might sound like a stupid question, but why can't you use the low Kings you have in the photo?

    Thanks guys for the replys

King springs have been sold, hence I was using it as an example

The red springs, on the front they fit perfectly
But when I go to the rears, bottoms don't sit flush with perch and the top diameter is too small,
With the Oem and kings, the bottoms are tapered so they sit nicely into the perch
As with the red springs they are the same diameter from top to bottom

Bought these on clearance so no refunds or returns
But these didn't cost much at all
