    Problems due to Coilovers???

    Hi guys,

Im like 2 days away from ordering my Tein SS coilovers, so Im just doing last few checkups before the big buy. Btw, my car is a 96 EK1 Sedan.

    So here are the questions:

    1. Has anyone ever had any mechanical or body strucutre problems with their car that were attributed to having coilovers? Since I dont want to spend 1.5k for them now, and then realise because of having them, iv gota pay through the roof to fix up all the problems due to having them and as a result screw up my car and budget

    2. If you answered yes to question 1, did you buy coilovers with upper pillar mounts or without? Since from what I know they are worth buying if u race ur car...where as i dont...correct me if im wrong

    3. How bad is the camber when you do a 1.5" - 2" drop? And is it worth getting a camber kit? Since I have no idea how much my tire life will be reduced due 2 this

As far as I understand, there is no need for upper mounts on front wheel drive Honda's.

Your camber shouldnt be a problem with that sort of drop. The real issue is with your toe (as this tends to wear tyres more than camber). Toe however can be adjusted.

My personal preference is to not go with a camber kit - I have seen major issues with using these. However, as I said before, you shouldnt need to worry about camber issues with that sort of drop.

i just got tein SS on my car day 2 now, nothing bad so far just wen ur on thehardest setting u can fell every bump on the road, and there is a lil squeak that happens wen u go over bumps. body roll? wat body roll even normal turns seems easier for some reason. overall i LIKE it and the height is sexy no finger gap on 17s. but the camber in the front looks scray with the drop.

    hope this helps, cheers

yeah i put my coilovers in, didnt get a camber kit, didnt get an alignment, 5 months later tyres are really on the way out.

I think it has to do with my toe, not necassirly ,camber. Make sure you get an alignment.

    Cheers

Yep. Toe is your problem - not so much the camber.

The biggest problem after getting coilovers is you want to drive home via the twisty road all the time.

I agree with this, i too have had problems with camber kits and believe you would save alot less hassels if you get a proper wheel alignment and kept a reasonable drop where you suffer far less camber issue.
