    Stiffer suspension DOES put more stress on the chassis; I've had a car with REALLY hard suspension that eventually just shook the car to bits and filled it with rattles. With lots of hard hits, anything will eventually begin to come unstuck.

    Speak to anyone who regularly drives on bad dirt roads about how long their cars last before they just get jittered to bits...

    EDIT: Additional thought: the secret in general is in EFFECTIVE dampening, which gives so much before stopping things smoothly (if you get what I mean).
