If you weren't reving high you MIGHT get away with just changing the belt. But its highly unlikey
with non free running engines it doesnt matter if your revving 1k or 7k. valve timming is valve timming. valves will bend. with a free running engine youl be ok, BUT LS isnt free running . make sure you dont get ripped off on your repairs. did the belt snap or just come loose and jump teeth, I think you said the rotor was turning.
