ive been around for a while and done tonnes of research on modifications etc

one thing i have been meaning to ask about is the shift nob

its not an essential part of the car so i have always overlooked it, i just watched the 'drift bible' movie, now i know this doesnt really have mutch to do with honda, but when examining the S14 series 1 used in the 1st segment the guy mentions that he 'upgraded' the shift nob

i have read recent threads about it on here and seen them for sale in the traders sections...

now my question is... what is the point of changing it?

i mean, the shift nob in my DC2 was pretty sweet, i thought it was nice, alot of people change them to little balls or steel nobs

the standard shift nobs in many sports cars are already pretty sweet, even the one in our families EG8 isnt bad

also wouldnt a metal one heat up in the sun?
