Is this bad? I do it pretty often and it's not quite a habit. I tend to down shift everytime I slow down to come to a stop according to the speed, but never anything crazy like 110kph on 3rd to 2nd.

I don't think its so bad dropping from 4th to 3rd @ 80kph as i fall victim of this when i don't react as fast as id like. But im sure if you've dropped into 3rd doing 80kph your revs would be up to around 4-5k or so?? which is pretty high in my opinion.

[Side note] Theres no problem in braking in 4th until your going 40kpm - No damage done in this instance.

...Even though heal-toe method is really only used for track, you can practice and learn this method of braking&accelerating @ the same time to rev match & to reduce wear and tear of your internals.
Took me a while to get the positioning of my foot right no jokes about 2 weeks but this really pays off when changing gears, in your circumstance from 4th to 3rd @ 80kph - You will not feel the car jerk forward.

You will use more of your brake pads though...
In hindsight - Brake pads cost less $$$ than a clutch.

Cheers mate.
