    heat protected pod filter.

    hey ,

i just purchased a pod filter with a heat shield built into it.

i was wondering weather it would be worse for my motor or not as the area for air to be sucked in is alot smaller than a pod filter with no heat shield.

    any advice would be great.

    i have a 2000 civic.

its better, it kind of eliminates one of the cons of having a sri. The engine heat is minimised.

    Its a start.

Much better to have an airbox made up. That way you get cooler air and more surface area from the filter.

Have you got a photo of it to show how close the heat sheild is to the filter? If it is close up against the filter, it 'will' obstruct air flow.

That sheild only protects from 'heat radiation', therefore it will still suck in hot air from within the engine bay.

    Use the heat shield.

If the cops see it without a shield, they can defect the car.

only? imo yeah the engine bay air will be cooler when at speed but its still allot cooler OUTSIDE the engine bay regardless of what is goin on inside.

imo some sort of cold air ducting will do more than a shield by itself.

stock airboxes come with oem ducting yeah? (ie. plastic saxa-maphone resonator behind front bumper) you just need to replicate this system in a more efficient manner
