    what happens when you turn the key?

    ok... my headlights and my horn works fine... so that kinda eliminates a battery problem...

    when i turn the key...

    I makes the starting sound but straight away it makes a metal-on-metal contact sound and dies and does this repeatedly until i put the key back to the slot just before engine start...

    starter motor?? or sumthing else??

    Checked the timing belt?

    Could be valves hitting pistons.

    Take the rocker cover off and have a look at the valve tappets. Maybe one of them came loose and is rattling around in there.

    get it towed to hannys and let them deal with it ... trying to start it when it sounds like metal would put me off straight away ...

    problem solved!

    was a flat battery... just jump-started the car....
