I would recommend against the a539.
they don't grip too well, and the sidewalls are pretty soft.
back in those days, the FM901 was heaps better than the a539

yes, currently rolling on 215/35R18..........i've no problems with them regarding with grip. However, my acceleration suffers.........my reason for a possible wheel change.

For a good combination of grip and mileage, Bridgestone S03.

oh sorry ian, i made a mistake, I meant 16"x7"

with civics, its important to get a lightweight wheel.

what tyres are you thinking of getting?

i have been thinking about this too, currently i run 16x7's
still got 10K left in my goodyear F1's so when they run out i'm thinking of going to 15's

just a note abt the bridgestone g3's.

if u want 205/50, u may wish to get the 215/50 as the pricks at bridgestone don't mention that the g3 technology uses a thinner tyre to "achieve" a wider tyres gripping performance. if the look of it aint a big deal for u, then fine...

i got 205/40/17 and when i watched them change my 205/50 re711, i thought "what the f*%^?!?!?!?" according to bridgestone, the g3 205 was abt 17mm thinner than the re711. now i got tyres that look real whimpy (thin). i dun push my car hard ard corners so can't really compare whether the grip levels are comparable or not.

you're stockers will definately be a lot lighter than your 18s, but for a 15" they are still pretty heavy.

The Falken Azenis RT-215 actually aren't a semi slick, they look like a semi slick, but are actually a very high performance street tyre, and expect to get only about 20,000km out of them.

I would strongly recommend against running semi slicks on the road. While R compound semi slicks are very very grippy, they are very expensive (about $300 for a 15"), and are probably wasted by putting around on the streets with em. You'll only get about 10,000km out of them

you also need to warm them up before getting maximum grip, when cold they can let go rather abruptly, which is quite dangerous actually.

Why are you going back to 15"?

I currently have stock 15" on my car and I was planning to go up to 16x7" for a compromise of looks/performance. Though, I don't mind staying on stock 15" or getting lightweight ones if it's quite a noticeable performance decrease when going up to 16"s.

i hate the ride quality on crappy sydney roads
i'm also one of those people who has 'seen the light' when it comes to stock or OEM stuff, there's a reason why it's so expensive
