sorry to jack, but how much would it cost to have just the roof sanded and sprayed? reason i ask is because my clear coat has gone really bad on my roof and it needs fixing.

It depends on your location. Speak with a number of bodyshops in your area and ask them. Probably looking at a minimum of $600 I would have thought depending on how much work you do yourself.

When respraying your car you have to receive permission from the RTA dont you?

Check out this link, the guy uses a roller and anti-rust paint, don't know if you can get the same stuff in Oz but the results are pretty impressive.

sorry for hijacking but has anyone here done the sanding themselves is it hard or just time consuming cos i wanna respray it a diff colour and i thought that sanding it down myself mite cut the cost like more than half
