Your car comes stock with either Denso or NGK. Probably iridiums too. If your service manual lists the spark plug change at above 100,000km then they are iridiums. Not cheap considering they are $20 EACH!

i honestly doubt many, if ANY fd2 owners in australia have done enough kms to warrant a spark plug change
why do you wanna change them?

They think plugs give performance.

So no point changing them? Are there other brands out there that gives a better performance, if there is such a thing? Just thought since u can upgrade everything else, e.g. air filters to something better, maybe theres one for spark plugs?

Read up what a spark plug does and you'll realise that you only gain power with new plugs is if your current plugs are worn out and giving an insufficient spark.

Come on guys, he asks a legitimate question doesnt he. Yes when we are talking a brand new car there is not going to be a discernible gain from changing plugs and its probably not a good value for money upgrade.. But, the better spark you get to the combustion chamber the cleaner the burn which equals less emission, slightly better response and better economy. Again on a new car it would be barely noticeable but you can always get a better spark so he didnt ask a stupid question...
As for those spark plugs that give 10psi boost, where can i get some of them?? lol.
Just hold onto your current plugs atm mate, put the money into something else for the moment... Up to you though..

Yeah, I wasnt saying it to anyone in particular. You can always get more spark. Its not my place anyway i just thought he asked a pretty normal question i would have asked a while ago and just got 'some' smart comments.. They were in good humour and i dont care i just thought i would try and see if i could answer his question. Wasnt saying that you hadnt offered adequate explanation or anything mate...

Well, smart comments always come when someone asks about grounding kits, capacitor kits, ebay chips, those vortex things, or electronic blow off valves. In this case, it was whether plugs give more power, which for an NA car is no, unless the current plugs were totally stuffed.
I hope the thread starter read my comments above and not just ignored them because they were not what he wanted to hear:
1) His Civic comes with NGK or Densos, Iridiums if the spark plug change interval is 100,000km or longer. Iridiums are the ones with the thinnest electrode and the best spark.
2) He would only get more power if his current plugs were worn out and not giving a good spark.
