The main reason that someting like this would not work is that at any decent revs, your engine would be drawing more air in than the fan could force anyway, rendering it pointless and in the way.

That is assuming that you were after some kind of a "forced induction" effect from this, not just cooler air into the engine bay!!

Same reason those stupid electric fan pod filters are ineffective!!

I wouldn't do it cause it'd be hot air.

Ducting into the front bumper is the way to go.

yeah i gues i wasnt expecting a supercharger just a slightly better alternative to the usual CAI...

whatever u do dont do that, if you want to be different and dont want to hack the airbox and resonator

get a spare airbox lid, cut a hole then get some fibreglassing skills and make yourself a snorkel above the headlight

what about feeding a/c cool air into the intake pipe?

lol probably dumb but theoretically should be good? (prob only juss make up from the engine draw that a/c does anyway lol)

Yeah, honestly, you'd be lucky if it even did that, maybe on a stinkin hot day!
I think that the cooling is pretty efficient anyway!
If you go to that trouble you mite as well use the time to put nitros on it!

There are some racers that use the air con to decrease the intake temp of the air.

Dunno how effective it is tho.

CO2 ffs. just plumb that into the intake b4 your throttle body and you're set. I friend just bought a little eg hatch with that installed, i haven't seen it yet in person but apparently it works. It's an ex Northfield show car if anyone remembers it.

Also, i was talking with a friend, apparently somewhere in the states (it was on foxtel a while ago) they are running a eg hatch with an intake connected to the crank pulley. They have installed a fan inside the intake pipe and run a belt from the fan to the crank pulley, so at hi rpm the fan spins faster and at low rpm slower. I haven't seen it so i have no idea how/if it works, but sounds interesting.

The a/c idea has been done before but not the way you think.

the cold blowing air was diverted to a pipe that surrounded the metal intake to cool the intake... then turn off the A/C prior to launch.

can't leave it on as the a/c being on would already reduce the power your crank is outputting...

so yeah as others have said don't worry about it. just heat wrap your cai pipe

there are legit ones with proper turbines.. however they are a massive drain on battery juice... required like 6 additional batteries in the boot to maintain 1min worth of 8psi boost... again the additional weight disadvantage outweighs any gain.... maybe a good alternative to nos though as it is rechargeable. but then ask anyone with hydraulics how long it takes them to fully charge the 1 spare battery they have in the boot let alone 6.
