fuel consumption on new civic 1.8L and 2L?

    hi,

considering to buy the new civic vti-l 1.8L or the sport 2L. whats the fuel consumption like between the two?

I mainly drive in the city and I know that consume more fuel.

the dealer says 7.3L/100km on the 1.8L and about 8L/100km on the 2L, but I think that just what the spec says, i don't think it would be near that in the real life

and if I was to buy the vti-l, I would prob go with the auto. is there a big difference in fuel consumption between auto and man?

    Thanks

well i have a 7th Gen and travel to work in peak hour traffic over a 21 km trip in stop start traffic and i get approx 7.7/100 with instantaneous fuel consumption using scangauge so i would say around this figure would be right,

in highway driving the best i have got so far was 6.10/100 which involved 15% urban driving.

If you drive conservatively then yes you can reach the specified consumption.

Although it depends on your driving route, if you are always in heavy traffic, it will be higher (close to 9L). But if you drive on the freeway a lot and use high gear+low RPM, then it may reach 6.xL

There isnt much difference between auto and manual consumption. You can expect about a 0.2L difference

I'm still on my first tank of fuel... with lots of city driving but very light on the throttle.. at halfway, I've done about 200km's... so I'm expecting around 8.

Expect around 12L+ since its a new engine.

All engines need around 5000km to wear in properly. When an engine is new, there is a lot of friction in the cylinders and other parts, which cause high fuel consumption.

My Euro was eating over 15L when it was new, now it eats 9L

I go about 500k on a full tank which is about 10L/100k

But this is summer with air cond on mostly always. Im sure will be better if I had aircond off.

My VTi has done 7000km's and get around 650km highway driving, but only about 400 city. To me, that sounds about 11-12 around town which is excessive compared to the spec the dealer is pushing.

The low fuel light turns on at about 375km's around town.

Without looking at the user manual cause I'm lazy, how many litres are left in the tank when it turns on? If there is about 7 ltrs left, I could go another 40-50 km's, which would get the consumption around town down to 10ltrs per 100kms.
