Creaking while slow steering and braking EF8

Basically when coming to a halt i used to hear a clunk. Now when slow steering through carparks etc, I can now clunks from around the steering and suspension region.

It is hard to pin point exactly, but it used to feel as though it was a passenger side clunk now it is both sides.

Just wondering if anyone know what it could be?

Or if there is some maintainence i should perform?

Is there a subframe that might need tightening or any parks of the steering rack?

Could be your sussy bushes, steering rack or your cv's.
I had a similar problem and found my steering rack was dead and my rear mount was torn to bits....
Put the car on a hoist if ya can access one and check the steering rack for excess play and also check the other things i have mentioned.

it sounds like cv joints...if it is broken...it shouldn't cost too much to replace/repair

nah sounds like your suspension bushings and/or steering tie-rod ends. if it's a 'creaking' noise rather than a rotational-style noise.

doesnt sound like axles / cv joints to me with those symptoms as you describe it.

it could even be over-tightened bushing-bolts also.. if the bushings arent destroyed, try and tighten them to factory torque specs.

can you feel the 'clunk' vibration through the floor to your feet ?

if you CANT then it's possibly axles/cv's/wheel bearing related. if you CAN then it means it's a fastener (something that bolts onto the chassis) so more than likely a bushing.

a bit of spray from a can of WD40 could possibly help you localise your issue. Lubrication on some suspension elements could stop the noises you hear - if not permanently at least temporarily.

Also if you spray a certain part of your suspension in stages - say your tie-rod ends and the noise stops - you know its got to do with that, if not - go to the next area.

    the creak/clunk is inconsistant though

some days it is present some days it isnt..

in regards to tie rods.. are they the whole metal end arm of the steering arm.. or just a small part where it joins the hub?

When breaking if you hear a "slapping on metal", it could just be the break line hitting the shock. Mine does it hehe still haven't got out the zip ties...
