    Squeek on DC2, Suspension Problem?

    hi guys
after a a long trip on the easter break, it seems that something might be wrong with my suspension. I notice a squeek when getting in the car and getting out of the car on the driver and passenger side. Seems like the suspension, what could be wrong? Car is stock standard and not lowered, dont know the history of the shocks or suspension as i have recently purchased the dc2 vtir

id say the handbrake cable needs a tighten /adjustment.
Try pulling up the handbrake HARD - jump out of the car and jump back in again.
OR put the handbrake off , and leave the car in gear ( so it wont roll)
Jump back in the car again , does it squeak still ?

could the squeek be that your door hinges need lubrication? as it happens!!

or your front shocks are a gonski! if u can see the shocks, look for oil leaks as these are signs..

try putting weight on the front corners or sit on the corners of the car and sit down and up and listen for noises...

if you do hear noises then its your shockies!!

I had the same problem sometime ago... had some new springs installed and noticed that every time i went over a hump or even get in or out of my car there was a squeek.

I jacked up my car and sprayed the springs and bushes with RP7 and when i dropped the car back down.. the squeek was gone! Give it a try... could be as simply as that.

is it a squeek or a SQWUACK?? i had the problem with my accord and it was just the bushes that had to be replaced.

If it's more of a creaking sound then it's quite common from time to time. I have one, my bro & mate also have DC2's and they've all done it ocasionally.

yup i used the get this noise too -
Firstly , try it by pulling the handbrake up firmly ( more than usual) so the rear pads lock harder. Jump in the car , does it still make the noise ? If so IMO the cable is loose.
you need a phillips head screwdiver and abit of time.
pull out / up the arm rest/handbrake cover (should be 4 screws) - and you will see the back of the handbrake. There is 1 10 or 12mm nut which bascially you turn to adjust the handbrake cable tension to the handbrake. Slight adjsut and you will feel the handbrake getting stiffer(to pull up) and ajust to suit. Do not adjust too much.

i had a very annoying squeak on my da9, and it turned out to be the bolts joining the gas strut to the boot at the rear of the car.

packed all 4 joins with grease and havent heard anything since.

    All done man !
    thanks alot for your help
The handbrake seems more stiff now but doesn't pull up high as before but seems shorter. Shouldn't be a problem right ? It just a little lower.
    No more bad squeeks
