Hmm, I still don't see anything.
He may be right however - I still would install an intercooler for peice of mind.

I did... i saw 2 cars that did it
-
and what baro pressure was it seeing at those temps?

That's great. And I take some dude on the internet's word for it. I said proof not hearsay.

I dont understand what proof u want? You want physical evidence that i have been involved with muillitple cars which ahve run un-intercooled?

Well that was my setup, i ran for a couple of months. I have also installed 3 other greddy kits, and one custom kit which ran un-intercooled for a period of time. If you search around the internet you will find people who have run unintercooled so long, that the engine has outlasted the turbo or many turbos. Im not going to hold your hand.
The theory behind it is quite simple really.
An intercooler is nothing more then a cooling device. You original post said, and i quote:

If your run a turbo in an operating range that it can produce a charge at a reasonable tempreture (depends on turbo trim size) let say upto 70'C (which the greddy turbo produces at 5psi) you will experience no relibility issues at all. The only issue you may encounter is a lack in optimal performance.
Remmeber that air-to-air intercooler will only drop a charge 20-50% if they are lucky. It all depends on the cores efficency and outside air tempretures. In some cases, only 10% is achieved - such as small side mounted or top mounted cores.
The only time tempreture will effect anything other then POWER, is when the charge tempreture is so high, that it passes the knock threshhold. Knock will kill an engine in seconds. U can heatsoak knock on any car, intercooled or not.
Lastly: Case and point is the VL turbo. Among MANY OTHER CARS, they come unintercooled from factory for Australian conditions.
To summarise. if u want a budget setup with no strings attached, a greddy kit will bring you engine to the level of a slightly modified b16a. With 100% reliability. No strings attached.

Reason: DO NOT BE DEFAMITORY!

Two turbos, is better then one.

I never asked you to.

And this is basically the point I'm trying to make. Why let the engine knock and have such thermal temperatures and stress being inflicted upon the engine, possibly wearing down its components and killing its longevity when you can simply add an intercooler for piece of mind (and to look after your car)?

Good point. However Honda's are not turbocharged from the factory and were never designed to be. Most people that turbocharge their cars to generate 2x+ more power and having no intercooler is simply not viable for this. I agree that if you are running a Greddy kit on it's stock boost level that this may not be an issue however.
My personal opinion may be affected by where I live too. I live in regional QLD. A place where temperatures 40 degrees+ are not uncommon for weeks on end, not to mention humidity. Running a modded turbocharged car that isn't intercooled is just plain stupid.
I think you have missed the point I've been trying to make though. I've not once stated that running a car without an intercooler isn't possible, I know it is. What I'm trying to say is that for an extra $400-1000, you can take so much stress off your engine and increase your car's reliability 10 fold.

One place i learnt not to get info about turbo hondas is from here. Its mostly lies. Theres very few people on here i would listen too, one being weq. He isnt no e-mechanic, he been through it all, from the humble 5 psi greddy kit (which mind u is still FASTER and CHEAPER than a b16 conversion) to the 220 fwkw monster he just sold.
But the bastard still wont tell me what clutch to get

I will be speaking with the next defamitory or uncivilised poster and you can have a bit of time out, SO COOL IT! If you cant discuss things reasonablly then dont post!
As some of the other posters in this thread have pointed out, I too would also like to know more information about turboed cars that dont run intercoolers, so any info. would be appreciated.
See a good post? Give it a PQ point.
