Rev Limiter at standstill
Has anybody else noticed than when the Euro's are in neutral or clutch pressed in that there is a rev limiter at 4500.??????
It makes no difference whether or not vsa is on!
Makes high rev launches a little difficult!

It's a safety feature... New cars like the WRXs have them now..
The rev limiter is on when the car is stationary... you can remove it if you want but what's the point...

Yeah, even the Lancer Evo VIII has this - 0-100 on the Evo VIII from standstill is now 6.1 seconds due to the rev limit (see current motor mag). If you get the Evo (or the Euro) moving - even 1k/ph - the rev limit goes.
But like NIck said- no point in the Euro. Have you tried a launch at 4500? So much wheel hop and vibration your teeth will break..
3000rpm seems enough to break traction. Nick - what RPM do you find produces the best times? You have probably done more track testing than anyone in Melb with a Euro.

not surprising that they have a standstill rev limiter. I too noticed in MOTOR that the evo's have a limiter.
My h22a accord even has one set at 6500rpm when in neutral and when clutch is depressed and it makes no difference if the car is moving or not, it still has a rev limiter. So the only way i can rev it to 8000rpm is when its in gear unless the motor hasnt warmed up to normal operating temp as the 6500rpm limiter is there again. I guess honda didnt want me revving their engine to 800rpm when cold lol.....then again, neither would i want to.
as for revs when launching, i cant really launch above 2000rpm without stupid wheel spin. a good way is to get the car rolling then depress the clutch, feed some power and drop the clutch out again.
the other night it was a quiet straight damp road, i was doin 60 in 4th, i put the clutch in changed back to 2nd gave it lots of revs and dropped the clutch, both wheels spun and in an instant, the speedo went to 100kph lol.

Just starting to find out what my Euro can do!
I find myself going 100km and having it feel like only 60-70. Gotta keep an eye on that speedo!

Try doing it at the speeds I do... All I can say is the car is VERY STABLE.....

i'll ahev to agree that the car holds in corners like no tomorrow in high speeds.. i've only just worked in the car a bit, 3000km, but i've adjusted to the car soi've been pushing it more and more. The potential is pretty high so far from what i can tell.
I also have to agree, i have noticed that when you are in neutral and stationary, the rev limiter is at 4500rpm. I was at the lights revving it wondering why it stopped so early, not bad tho 
Need a lighter flywheel for faster revs hehe

Sorry dude I choose to disagree, the Euro might be a well built all rounder car but there is just too much flex on the body at high speed cornering. I've prolly gave the Euro more workout than anyone in here and I can say it starts to float abeit lightly and it really needs better springs and a good set of sway and strut bars....
But that's based on my personal experience

Must agree it's extremely stable going straights at high speeds....almost hit 200 on the M2 once...i heard there are cameras there...but it was like 3am so dunno...
anyway must agree on the fact that the car feels kinda funny when cornering at very hard speeds....
standstill rev limiter is shit...some p'plater was reving in his shit audi A4 at the lights trying to impress his gal and then i tried mine, didn't sounds as mad...although he did eat dust... serves him right for picking on fellow p'platers....

I agree with you Nick - I think the stock 205 tyres contribute. Too narrow for such a large car. The ridiculous ride height also doesn't help body roll.
Any ideas yet on how to get a decent strut brace? Bloody yanks have so many aftermarket parts available - we have hardly any!!

driving like that, you should be glad there are so many air bags in the euro.
do you guys even realise that revving out to high rpm in neutral is very bad for your car?

And what is a P plater like you doing 200ks on the road? :P
Anyway.. Safe Driving.. 
From where I come from, the roads allows me to do in excess of 240km/h and I take it as an experience learning phrase to get a feel of the car at high speeds...
If you have to do crazy speeds.. please make sure there is no one in the car or on the road to take with you if anything happens and also responsibility towards anything that happens lies solely on you only...
