    Rebuild engine

    Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Currently running a SOHC VTEC Automatic Trans on my EK. I am having ideas on getting a front cut and rebuild an engine. But since i had completed the I/H/E mod, i would prefer a B16 to save other costs.

I understand that it could be a long wait to get these parts, do you guys reckon it'll be easier to get a B16 or a B18 (located in melb)? Any ideas how much will i be looking at for a complete swap over? Which will be cheaper overall?

    Thanks boys.

Dan...search is ur friend If not in this forum..try Civic/CRX forums.

Most swaps ( if going thru a reputable workshop) will range from 7K and up - including parts.

The B16 would be cheaper overall as it's cheaper than a B18.

And ur current engine would be a D series correct? If yes, then the I/H mods will not fit onto the B.

But anywho...other will chime in and give u better advise. But if I may, go the B18 Dan.

sze5, met ya on the elephnat rock cruise. please dont mention what i drive and what its got on here publicly.

As for ur questions, ur d16y8 head is different to the b16a head, so intake headers and exhuast wont fit normally, possibly with alot of modifications, but probably not worth it.

as for going either b16a or b18c man, only 7 kws peak difference in power, but the b18c takes the b16a in all departments, fi ur going to swap, spend once and start with the b18c, its much better base to begin with.

anyways, next meet, ill chat with ya in person over it, or if u want, let jimmy know and when we next stonecutters, ill speak to u then.

b16a swap should be less than 7k, i thought it was more like 4.5 ?

if it is...i apologize for giving the wrong information.

but even if it is, that means 2.5K more for other mods

i agree with toE & pornstar, go the B18C. You'll appreciate the extra torque for starters.

whoa i ain't the only zombie up at this time !

yeh go B18c...i agree the B16 you will prob get tired of the lack of torque in the low rev range
conversion should cost about 5-5.5k (IMO) for the B18 (incl. engine and parts)
correct me if i am wrong here!
