Help: Removing DC5R headunit

I am having problems removing the headunit in my Integra. Anyone knows how to do this? I'm trying to force the panel around the HU and the tray but no luck. Is there something holding this panel?

couple of tips for u.

-when undoing the bolts unerneath the deck, put a rag or something there to catch them incase u drop em, cos they can drop down into the console and might be really tricky to fish out again.

-when pushing the deck and surround out, be careful, as ull find the RHS will come free first, then gently help the LHS free (hazard switch side) cos u may break the facia.

-make sure u connect the hazard switch again as ur indicators wont work with that disconnected.

not hard to remove, but just take a bit of care in those areas.

hey im just talking out my OEM headunit to replace with my alpine, and i found i got the wrong wiring harness from Aerpro!!

i picked up this one from autobarn: http://aerpro.com.au/list.php?pcode=...10&cat_sno=161

and it wont fit into the OEM harness (the big blue plug!)

where can i get the correct harness WITHOUT having to cut and solder - do i need this one as well? http://aerpro.com.au/list.php?pcode=...10&cat_sno=160

When I went to install an after market unit onto my 02 DC5 I called up autobarn and they said I needed two harnesses, one pioneer specific and one honda specific. I got them ($50 for both) and the plugs were all different even though their "system" said it should have been compatible.

Returned it and ended up cutting the wires and using those plastic things where you stick the wire in and screw a bolt to hold it tight - worked well.

The only other option I can think of is getting the proper harness from america i.e clubrsx or eBay.

Sorry I forgot what they are called (maybe someone can enlighten us) but they look like that from side view - you slide the wires you need to connect in from each side and screw it down to secure the wire (its more secure than my picaso suggest)

A block consist of heaps of them connected together so it looks like a lego block from top view.

I got them from super cheap but you can practically get them at any hardware store - cheap as chips.

It saves you having to solder or crimp the wires to make connectors. Some may view it as "dodgy" and unreliable but if you take your time; to strip the wires to the correct length so that only insulation is exposed, tighten the wires well and wrap any unused wires with electrical tape, it should all be good

<$10, See how many wires your head unit has and get a block that can accommodate that many. I just got a really long one and chopped of whatever I didn't need. I'd take pictures but removing them screws to get the head unit out is a bitch.

The stuff you're looking for should be in the section where they sell wires and fuses at supercheap.

it should be blue/blue wire, green/green wire etc?

What I found is that (some) honda wire colours are different to that of some head units. Just check the manual of the head unit and match up what they are.
Probably not the same as your factory head unit but you should be able to work out what colour represents what.

OEM headunit is a kenwood IIRC.....
