Well picked up a 1999 CXI Hatch.

Has done 56,000km and is an immaculate stock Civic which I'm very happy with especially considering I got 3 years warranty on it aswell.

Time to start getting it up to pace with the other civics round here, well maybe that won't start happening until I purchase my VTI-R VTEC engine.

One question I do have is that I was planning on putting a pod filter in but was thinking how much difference performance wise would there be between doing that or just replacing the filter in the airbox with a K&N High Flow Air Filter?

Also on the look out for a decent alarm any recomendations on brands?

I've been told Cobra and Viper are the go do you guys agree?

BIG DEBATE with regards to performance...of course you're gonna get your pod filter owners saying that it makes a difference. just bare in mind with pod filter, it sounds GREAT! but sucks hot air from d engine bay (with a Short Ram Intake set-up). I have a panel filter like your pic, at least its covered by my stock box.

Yer was thinking of just putting in an air filter in the Airbox and then replacing the plastic pipe with a steel one.

That's what's been suggested to me by my mate who thinks I'll get just about the same specs as I would putting in a pod.

Yes, you can do that! Or if you can get a heatshield for the pod filter, then that would work as well.....i guess having a pod looks good in your engine bay.....as well as sound factor as well.

Yeh I was thinking the same thing myself the headlight protectors don't look too noticeable though.

Here are a couple more pics.
