They've gotta start cutting costs, as much as i'd like to see them have free reign to do whatever they wanted with the cars the way we're going we'll have 10 car races with just the major engine manufacturers vs Ferrari.

Jordan were on a knife edge financially anyway, Minardi were even worse, any increase in the cost of engines for these guys and say bye to four cars.

As for the teams running a third car, bugger that, most teams barely have the money to run two! Typical bernie arrogance, he's built F1 up to where it is now and now he's just strangling it for his retirement fund.....(even though he is one of the richest men in the world).

Its not others Vs Ferrari engine wise.
Ferrari doesn't have the best engine and they have openly said that.

Renault and BMW have the best engines...
But Ferrari has the best over all package!

Cutting cost is going to make things just as bad.
    How you say?

Well with new engines and chassis being built you have to test them and create solutions to new problems.
Do you think by just putting in a V8 and less aerodynamics that costs go down? Or take out some electronics?

If you do major changes you have to test and fix problems that come up.
This is why they don't wanna change the engines in them.

Jordan, Minardi, Sauber are all against it so is Ferrari.
But people like McLaren, Toyota and BMW want it because they have the money to develop the new engines and it will be even package against Ferrari...

    Understand what i'm saying?

i didn't mean competeing against each other engine wise, i meant competeing against each other with the teams they support, i.e Renault vs McLaren (Merc) vs Ferrari vs Williams (BMW) vs BAR (Honda) vs Toyota (depending on when they get their act together, they'll only take being mid-field for so long), because those are the only teams with the $$ to continure thanks to their engine manufacturer support.

As for cutting costs i don't agree with the 2.4L V8s either, for the same reasons you've said, that it doesn't cut costs coz they have to develop whole new engines. I think Mario Thiessen came up with cutting costs using the existing engines, as in fixing certain things, banning some of the more expensive materials etc. Its still going to be the teams with the big budgets getting more power, but the smaller teams wont be so far behind because they don't have that money to spend.

What they need to do is freeze engine development to some extent.....

Yeh i understand what your saying.
But if you freeze the engine development other motorsports can "catch up" and that wouldn't make any F1 Team Happy!

Imagine if a IRL car is just as fast and developed as a F1 car, you might as well merge the two classes.

I don't know a solution to this problem.
As Juan said "A team always dominates, people complain but they should be praising them because it makes lesser teams wanna catch up and things develop quicker"
