    Idling high / hunting b18c

hey guys, ive just recently had a conversion everything went as smooth as it

could get, pov boys the way to go. Only issue that ive got is that my car is

idling quite high 1100-1000 when warm, and it hunts also even more so when

cold from 1100-1200rpm. This does clam down eventually once motor is warmed

up, has 3-4 fluctuations and then sits bak on 1000rpm, ive cleaned out the TB,

IVAC, checked for vacume leaks and how found nothing, Ive unplugged the IVAC

and straight away my idle dropped to normal. Im assuming its down to a ECU

setting and i need a scan tool to re-configure it or the controller isnt

functioning properly, thanks for your help.

there's nothing wrong with your idle. It's just your running stock ecu with a lightened Toda flywheel. When it trys to idle it bounces a little cause of the lighter weight of the flywheel.

i have a stock ECU / toda flywheel and it acts (and should) idle exactly like
    stock.

Have you checked the tension on your throttle cable ? Might be a tiny bit too tight and snagging the throttle butterfly giving you this "fluctuations"

Idle shouldn't be affected by a lightened flywheel as they flywheel will only engage when you get into gear.

Try the idle adjustments. Note that leaner fuel can also cause higher idle.
Isit stock ECU or aftermarket? If stock reset ECU might help.
If aftermarket ECU you might need to increase fuel slightly at idle.
Also check if the O2 sensor is plugged in.
    And also check the timing.
If still got problems a dyno run/tune might help identify the issue

COuld be lots of things but those might help.

    Check TPS voltage @ Idle.
It may have been bumped during the install & be out a little.

when u do a conversion your tacho doesnt read right it will always read higher, and as for the hunt when does that happen??while u driving then shift to neutral it will hunt couple of times as barefoot said lighten flywheel...on a standstill idle and its hunts then something is wrong u might need to adjust the idle from the throttle body it might help.....

yeah i agree also jdmTYPE R, thats it and i dont think theres an issue, thanks to everyone that replied, going to run scan tool through it to see how the ecu is running anyway and to check for possible DTC.

what engine conversion went into the car and what did it have previously?

tacho shouldnt be out after a swap unless it requires a different signal, most hondas i know share the same signal.

happen to me but idled 1.5k clean the iacv and screw it back in, clean the throttle (good deep clean) and check the coolant lines going to the iacv, let it run for a bit to rid the cleaner then turn car off take the ecu fuse and backup fuse out and let idle for 5mins, also cheack the throttle cable before doing this, thats what i did and mine now idles 1200 when cold then drops to 900-1000 when warm, also got spoon fly and very hi flowing exhaust.
