^^ yeah. If your engine oil is getting out through the exhaust, it comes out as blue coloured smoke. Not black spray.

When is your next scheduled service? I would top up so that the level is between the minimum and maximum holes. Remember that after topping up, you have to leave it for a while so that the oil goes back into the sump from the head so that you can get an accurate reading.

what i like to do is after all the oil has been drained. i pour in 1/2liter of new oil and let that go thru b4 putting the sump plug back on. cause with most hondas with the exception of 5th gen ludes they take around 4liters of oil so u'll have a liter spare.

i find it'll just clean it out that little bit more

so old oil mixed with new ones (same brand etc) is fine? i thought it might be dirty and not suitable to mix with the cleaner oil.

EK4R, if you are topping up oil then its generally OK to mix a small quantity of new oil with the old oil.

But when you're changing your oil.......only use new oil

What oils would you guys recommend for an EM1?
Are they all the same? Because I went to look at the manual, and there were specifications of oils according to ambient temperatures etc.

I don't really want to spend too much, but don't want to skimp on quality as well.

Tip: Remember to put the drain plug back in before you poor your nice fresh oil into the engine! I found out the hard way first time i did my oil change lol, cleaning large puddles of oil off the driveway, and having to score a ride to pick up even more oil when your low on cash is a true bummer.
