    Will 18x8 fit the EK??

    Hi All,

I have looked around and could not find any threads on this size rims/tyres.

Can someone please let me know if 18x8, 235/40 fit on the Ek Sedan with standard suspension without rubbing/scrubbing?

    Thanks,
    Tom

18x8 will fit. in fact, there have been larger and wider rims fitted onto a civic wth not much problems. the problem lies more on the offset of ur rims.

tho i must say 235/40 isnt really a good profile, its rather too big and chunky. most (alot) civic run 215/35 or 225/35 (<- tats pretty much max).

so tats something for u to consider.

yep, make sure the offset is right

or u will have scrubbing issues

and dont change the stock rolling diameter, keep it the same

so as u go larger in rim diameter, u get a smaller aspect ratio

so as stich mentioned, 235/40 is too big and chunky

mind you, having 18s on stock suspension will be killer on the rocky mountains. you will be 4WDin' in style.

will need guard rolling and camber kits if lowering.

but that depends on how low he wants to go

if he just increases the rim diameter and reduces the aspect ratio, thus not changing the stock rolling diameter

    like, going for a 215 35 18 or something

im sure lowering it on 18z wont be much different to lowering 17z, as long as the 18z have the right offset and rolling diameter?

Thanks for all your help guys, I think that I will be getting some 17's now or 18's with 215/35 as mentioned.

18x8's fit but like the others said has to be correct offset and tyre measurments. My mate has 18x8 on his EK with 42 offset and 215/35-profile tyres front and rear.

In your position, id look for some 7.5 inch rims, purly for the benifits of reduced weight. You can still mount a 215 or 225 tyre on them aswell, and the tyres will still look just as wide, if not more, as there not streched out over 8 inches of rim.

you also will have reduced turning circle as the inside of the rubber will rub on suspention components and reduce "full lock"
