thats a given... almost every s2k owners hates rx8, and it is pretty much the same the other way around.
back to the topic & as someone have already suggested - go test drive for yourself. its your money and only your opinion count!

I actually drove one for kicks before pruchasing.. Also took a 350Z Track, and a RX7 Spirit R.
RX-7 Spirit R Type B was by far the better choice of the 3. The Z had nice torque, but drove like a boat. The RX-8 had nice........ nice...... paint? lol.

expect very biased opinions when asking whether you should buy a mazda on a honda forum.
like you got told, go and drive the car yourself and see how you go.
remember, its you whos going to own the car in the end so you got to figure out which one floats your boat and caters to you better.

I own and s2k and have driven rx8s.
RX8 is no where near as nimble feeling, ride is heaps softer, but is more quiet and better comfort.
official L/100km is 12.6, but it is way higher. When fanging it, fuel goes down the drain. Expect as even as low as 200km from a full tank of hard driving!
Also youre required to top up engine oil quite often (like litres) - i think even between services - it actually says that as part of the manual.
It also looks crap in my opinion. The motor sounds so unexciting - big hair dryer. Gearing is also really tall.
Then again i can see why some people buy it. 4 seats ("4 doors") and is comfortable, yet still is quite sporty. It is just a good all rounder, a compromised sports car. Not a choice if you want / used to s2000 sportiness.

might as well go buy an RX7 S8 if your gona buy an rx8....

As others have said, take an RX8 for a spin and see what you think.
This is what I can tell you on paper though:
RX8 has more chassis stiffness:
S2K: 20,000nm/deg or 16nm/deg/kg
RX8: 30,000nm/deg or 22.3nm/deg/kg
RX8 has less power to weight:
S2K: 140kw/ton
RX8: 126kw/ton
RX8 has less torque to weight:
S2K: 165nm/ton
RX8: 157nm/ton
RX8 is more practical.
As to whoever said opening front doors to let rear passenger out is a pain, you have to do that on a 2+2 seater 2 door coupe anyway.
As for personal opinion, I think the S2000 looks better, but you can make the RX8 look pretty good too! And I think an RX8 with a bolt on turbo kit would be a very interesting beast indeed. If I had another car, like an Accord Euro or something for a nice cruiser I might stick with the S2000. But if I only had one car, the practicality of the RX8 would PROBABLY win me over. Please bear in mind though that I have driven neither of these cars.

You know you want too...
Array
numbers dont mean a thing here... we can play numbers quoting until the cows come home...
go and test drive one... in my opinion, the s2k was much more of a buzz to drive, nimble, chuckable even. I came out with a smile ear to ear... the RX8 was a more competent cruiser, would eat the freeway miles very easily and in style... still smiled because i appreciate the engineering that goes into making a reliable rotary motor, but it was a different kind of smile...

S2K FTW !!!

mazda should of released the rx8 with factory turbocharged...

Umm... numbers don't mean anything huh? I'll have to tell that to the engineers who designed these cars.
