    Exclamation strange engine sound

Hi guys.. i'm a bit worried about the teg...

over the last two days the engines been really loud.. when the revs rise and it changes gear - the revs are really loud until you get around 4th - then it sounds like normal.

i can't really explain it properly.. but like.. when you rev the engine normally it has that regular sound - now that sound is much much louder. Also accompanying it is a bit of a gurgling sound, and most notably - an added rustling sound.. which is perhaps opposite the glovebox area? its hard to describe .. when you lift the bonnet, the whole area just sounds like shit.

as you can see i'm no mechanic, but i'm not sure what else to add. The cars done 109,000. I did the 80,000km service at 90,000, (when i got the car) and have been meaning to do the 100,000 at around 110,000. Took it to honda for the last service - so i presume the parts aren't dodgy? Sure its in need of a service, but it feels like its dying ..

Any advice/help would be appreciated - or if anyone knows someone good to take the teg to...

yeah get it checked out by a good mechanic.. someone that u've known for a long time .. or better still take it out to a few mechanics.... and see what they all say you might get a better idea of what is going on with ur teg... newayz its good to take it around to a few places cause it could cost u nothing to fix but they might charge u an arm and a leg... im not a qualified mechanic but it could be ur gear box..

check your oil dude.. may I suggest you get your timming bet replaced its due for replacement. the shitty sound could be the water pump failing.

i changed my oil 4000km's ago.. and the timing belt was replaced last service (20,000kms ago)

water pump you think? my engine temperature is still constant ..

unfortunately i dont' have any good relationships with mechanics yet - only had the car since January this year...

jsut coz you serviced your car 4000 kms ago deosnt mean its not low on oil, a faulty waterpump will not always affect the coolling performance of the coolong system. its the bearing in the pump that fails and gets noisy, the impellor still turns and circulates coolant.

i've checked the oil about a week ago and it was fine - still due for a change soon though.... what would make the waterpump mess up?

if this is what it would be - how much am i looking at getting that fixed?

Hey mate i think that you should service the car more regularly. Wear and tear in the gears causes the oil to contain metal chips/elements and may do futher damage to your car. Take care and good luck.

bad coolant speeds up the proccess but water pumps will fail, most common reasons are poor coolant, timming belt too tight, age.
