That is quite an expensive quotation you got, I bought it for $360 shipped.

Reason I bought it cause it's relatively small in size and stainless steel, those are the 2 main reasons. I needed a small cat to slot into my stainless steel race header.

It's a little better than my factory CAT, which is more restrictive. But it's just a CAT, don't expect big gains or anything.

Just settle for something small and light and does its job, that's it.

I'm gonna go against the tide here and say that for the money, Metal Cats are not worth it. I was faced with a similar problem earlier this year. Bear in mind that they are about $350-$450, are relatively new technology and are priced accordingly. If its universal (which it more than likely is),then you gotta fork out another $50-$100 for flanges, cutting and custom welding to fit. So all up your looking $450+ for something which will get you maybe 1-2WHP over something that I've got: a second-hand catco (i think) off a skyline rb25det cost me $50 from a friend, which is more than enough for our small honda NA engines. Unless your trying to push every ounce of HP, then IMO, theres money to be spent elsewhere.

expensive branded ones probably are generally 'not worth it'. however there are metal catalyst cats that are just as good as a branded one.

i can send you a link for one thats around $150 delivered if you want....

even if they don't give you any power gains from your combination of mods or lack thereof, the moment you start getting more exhaust pops metal cats will have already saved you money.. considering the costs of oem replacement CERAMIC cats that shatter from severe exhaust pops...

some people don't even realise they have a dead cat considering it's got a noticable eggy sulphuric smell if you don't have one... wait till they get EPA'd

^^ Yeah they have definitely dropped in price, since I was shopping around for one. $350 was the cheapest I found on eBay.
