    semi for beginner

What is the price range for re55s in 17?
    i got quote 235/45/17 $380 a tyre
Only for track use, I am open to other options. Budget level is fine as I just dun want to burn my re001 on track.

    any some advise welcome

You can use Dunlop RT615 for under $300.

RE55S are like the benchmark Semi Slick out there now. Very popular and very good reviews from everyone.

I would only buy them. I have used them before and I highly recommend them aswell.

    Have you tracked before?

If not, maybe for the first couple of times, it might actually be a good idea to use street tyres as you learn the track.

Right, yeah, then you probably want a spare set of wheels and semi's makes sense.

    Good luck

Cheap semis are normaly a harder compound = Falken RT615, Federal 595RS, Hankook RS2

Beter = AO48 you can get these 2nd hand cheap in 235/45/R17 (V8Brutes use this size) from traction tyres in rowville.

Best = RE55, R888 and the dunlop DJwhatever

re001 & rt615 etc are a high performance street trye.

If you want a proper R compound choose from the following:
    R888
Dunlop D02 or D03 <<< From what i hear the best.
    Yoko A048
    Re55
    V700

Im sure theres plenty more, but they are the ones people rave on about.

If your just after another set of tyres so you dont ruin your road tyres, your not chasing quick times and you dont have a big budget i would prob settle for a decent road tyre (eg rt-615s).

RT615s and 595RS are not Semis, i.e. they do not have R compound.
    Not sure about the RS2s.

None of those are semi-slicks.. They are all street tyres...

how does rt615 compare to re001?
    any better or worse?
coz considering the noise level .... i may just go for some good street tyres...
