    Exhaust piping size etc

Looking to get a custom catback exhaust done at hitechmufflers in Sydney soon and i was wondering what you guys recommend for piping size etc? I want it to be a deep/aggressive tone/note not some farty sound and something that isn't too loud until higher revs.. Because i'm fairly sure these blokes haven't had much experience with honda's mainly subaru's holdens.. any help/input would be appreciated..

ps: before people say "why dont i save up a extra $200 and get a fujistubu or HKS silent etc" i'm getting "mates rates" at this place so it comes out MUCH cheaper then any other exhaust system and its all stainless steel..

dont think ur guna get many replies if ur guna ask "how can i get this sound"
many ppl who see this automatically think "omg.. another ricer"
most ppl who are serious about exhausts aren't concerned about the tone produced but the numbers. If anything the only thing they are concerned about is the 'amount' of noise for example a twin loop will be a quiet zorst with performance benefits as opposed to the cannon which is the 'fart cannon'.

Anyways if u really must know youtube is ur friend as who the hell can describe exhaust tones anyways? There are many factors that can change a exhaust tone and i'm sure some shops can help u get the tone u want if they dont look at u like an idiot. For instance piping diameter and so on.

Best of luck with ur search.

haha i thought wanting a quieter exhaust with maximum power is the opposite of a ricer :S.. I just want to know peoples experiences with their euro's and exhausts.. if they used the double exhaust or single and what size piping they used and how the result came out on dyno and in person how loud..

twin loop oval mufflers will give you a nice deep quiet sound but still keep good flow... cannons (straight thru) will give you the best flow but can sound like a fart depending on size/baffling... i had a really nice 2.25inch zetti cannon on my pulsssar, sounded tough, not farty at all!

    yep thats correct

i originally took out the two centre mufflers, just ran 2.25inch piping from cat all the way to the rear, then splits into 2x 1.756inch and then runs to the stock mufflers... but sounded too much like a hyundai

so i got a centre hotdog added in (they're completly straight thru, give nearly no resistance at all)... that cut out alot of the high end sh*t... it doesnt sound tough, but it doesnt sound gay... extremely quiet when cruising, cant even tell its not stock... but when high revving it sreams a fair bit...

i am thinking about changing the rear mufflers (i have flanges on both sides so easy to swap around) or maybe even going for 2.5inch piping? not sure yet, i want to hear a euro with hks silent exhaust...

My apologies but u didn't really make it clear that u wanted a 'quiet' exhaust. Anyways Ive got a twinloop for myself going to put it on soon I can give u an update when I do if u want.

Also I hear a twin tip gives a good rumble but i don't have much experience with this types.

i got a hks silent exhaust and i love it.
turn on ignition it gives a little sweet rumble
when its on idle it sounds like stock but a TAD little deeper.
when moving under 3000rpm- 4000rpm = the sound is completely stock
anything over 3000- 4000rpm you will hear the difference.

i dont know the dimensions of the hks silent though sorry. Since your mates with your garage owner and getting mates rates, ask them to find the dimensions for you.

When i have time i'll try post up a video of my exhaust if you guys want it.
