EK4 Battery Optima vs Buddy Club?

    Dear all,

I have been struggled of thinking which one to get. I need to get a new battery for my EK4. I have had the sound system upgraded.

the new Optima is coming end of this month (i have been waiting for 3 months). And my friend told me that he has a Buddy club racing battery.

    but I haven't see it.

not sure if that's the one.

just wondering if anyone have any idea what the difference between the two. I know they both dry cell. But that's it.

    Cheers!

Sound system upgraded? I'd go for the Optima if it is the standard sized one. With the buddy club battery, you sacrifice capacity for weight reduction.

Yup the buddy club battery is a lightweight dry cell , made for starting the car and little else. If you happen to sit in your car with this type of battery and any accessories on , you will drain it quick smart.

What's the part number for the Optima? The old D51R yellow tops for the EK4 was discontinued. They have just started coming back in stock in the US, so it is worth asking if you are getting new stock.

It should be the same "D51R" because D = deep cycle (yellow top), 51 = size and R = reversed terminals.

You can clean it up with a brass wire brush and Inox.

I have got the Yellow top D51 Optima. I think this is the new batch.

Here is the part number. not sure if it is the same as the old batch

    8071-167

it seems the CCA is lower than the old batch..

    CCA: 450
    AH: 38
    RC: 66
