as everyoen has been sayin, u prolly have some sort of problem id yo engine / fuel management system or wateva ..
usually on a full tank .. most ppl get 480+ ... widout vtec'n all d time... and some gettin dat much .. vtec'n all d time ...
get it checked
Ill informed comments really bring a smile to my face. Firstly, no problems have surfaced after 33,000km which means none are likely for a long period of time. I originally thought of the posibility of the engine running too lean and have had it checked, It is as per specifications.
Secondly, it helps to fully understand the operation of the IVTEC system and to drive within those paremeters trying to ensure the IVTEC is constantly doing what it was designed to do (VTEC on to save fuel). It also helps that the conditions I drive under are almost ideal for getting the best possible ecconomy and I have adapted my driving style to suit. It is not a matter of driving around at a snails pace, but rather driving in a manner which keeps the IVTEC on and not going beyond that too often.
I've been getting close to 400kms but not quite... reason is I just acquired the car and I like to VTEC it quite a bit which seems to use a lot of fuel...
overall I believe if i drove like a reasonably person i'd probably get close to 450kms... and also I know it is running a little on the rich side, so after some tuning it could possibly go closer towards 500kms (also going to add a Volt Stabilizer which is meant to help save fuel)
Here is a copy of my log book for the last 11 weeks. While i have not past 600km on any week i could have easily done so if required. The most amazing thing to me is the consistancy from week to week.
Wow very consistant.... You actually keep a log book for your petrol + kms...
Good Work...
Btw how long have u had ur civic for...?
I got the car in July 06, so 16 months and almost 34,000km...yes i keep a log book and i can even tell u the total fuel used in that time as well as the average fuel consumption to date.
Mine isn't so happy.. I fill it out on my PDA each time I fill up, I don't know how much fuel the dealer put in at the start unfortunately (wasn't a full tank)..
All Shell standard unleaded other than the one marked BP.. At least I am consistantly under 10L/km and will be for next tank too which is almost finished.. The wonders of travelling through the CBD every day..
